I could NOT sleep last night. And it wasn’t the first time, either!

This has been happening to me a LOT lately. I have a busy day of school, friends, CCPs, boys, parents, Brianna, homework, dog walking and of course writing in my diary. By the end of the day, I’m EXHAUSTED, so I finish my homework, collapse into bed and THEN…

I’m WIDE awake!! 🙁

I don’t know WHAT the deal is. I just cannot turn my brain off. Like, one minute I’m SURE I’ll fall asleep in the middle of brushing my teeth, but then the second I’m actually in bed, my body’s all like HAHAHHAHA, LOL, NOPE! No sleep for you!!

I’ve tried getting back up and doing stuff to make me sleepy. Like reading a chapter in my history book from school, or listening to one of the podcasts my dad is always raving about. I’ve tried playing with Daisy right before bedtime to tire us both out. I drank warm milk and chamomile tea (but not together). But that just made me need to go to the bathroom an hour later!

Once, I was so desperate that I CLEANED THE BATHROOM. This is serious, people!

And what’s even worse is that doing those things didn’t even help. They just made me more EXHAUSTED in the morning (Plus, the newly cleaned mirrors just made it easier to see the dark circles under my eyes)!

So instead of getting up and trying to make myself tired, sometimes I just lie there, trying hard to relax. But like, the whole point of relaxing is you shouldn’t be trying hard to do anything. And the longer it takes me to fall asleep, the more I freak out about not BEING asleep! And then it’s even harder to fall asleep because I’m stressing that I’ll NEVER fall asleep!!

I thought teenagers were supposed to sleep all the time. I dunno—maybe that comes later in my teens. Or maybe I’m just a weirdo. But I feel like I’m going to lose my mind! I looked it up, and sleep deprivation is an actual form of TORTURE! It does stuff to your brain.

Oh MAN! Now I’ll be awake tonight, worrying that my brain is crumbling to dust!! AAARRRGH!!!

Of course all this TORTURE is making me a total zombie in the morning, and all day, really. This morning I dropped the open milk carton on the floor, so THEN I had to clean the floor, which made me even MORE tired!

And then I bombed a math quiz, and had to endure a lecture from my mom, which made me even MORE tired!!

But will I sleep tonight? PROBABLY NOT!!!

Basically, I’m exhausted and I don’t know what to do. I really want to climb into a pillow fort and sleep for, like, A WEEK.

So I need your help! What are your tips for getting a good night’s sleep? What should I do the next time I’m wide awake but wishing I was asleep?! HELP!!
