Happy World Wildlife Day!
Hey everyone! Did you know that today is World Wildlife Day! It’s a day to raise awareness about protecting animals and their homes.
Here, at Fuzzy Friends, were all about finding homes for all animals not just pets!
Over the weekend we held a class on how to create a bird house. Bird houses are great in spring, they help our feathered friends find a cozy spot for their nest!
I had a lot of fun learning about how different seeds attract different birds, like how Blue Jays prefer peanuts! They love to peck at the shell.
Today, I want to share with you a super easy way to create a bird feeder to hang from a tree branch in your yard!
Easy Bird Feeder
Things you’ll need:
- A plastic bottle
- A stick or an old wooden spoon
- Scissors
- twine
- sunflower seeds
Step 1: Take your plastic bottle and remove any label.
Step 2: With your scissors, carefully, cut a hole near the bottom of your bottle the size of your stick.
Step 3: About an inch above the first hole, cut a second small hole, a bit bigger than the size of a seed.
Step 4: Repeat step 2 and 3 on the other side of the bottle.
*Ask the help of a parent if cutting the bottle is difficult.
Step 5: Slide your stick through both holes to create a perch.
Step 6: Fill the bottle with sunflower seeds.
Step 7: Place the bottle cap back on and tie some twine around the neck of the bottle.
Step 8: Hang your bird feeder on a tree branch or balcony post and wait for birds to visit.
What are your favorite bird species, and why?
